Blog Saints FC believe that Saints have had a £6m plus offer accepted by Burnley. This accepted bid is also likely to spark further bids from other interested parties such as Norwich, Reading and Celtic. Sunderland and Newcastle have also had bids rejected in the past.
Burnley goalkeeper Lee Grant expects the club to field significant interest in the star striker. “It has been well documented how well Jay has done this season for a club like Burnley, it will be very difficult to keep hold of him” Grant said in an interview with SkySports. “The calibre of clubs that will be looking at him are from the Premier League and if the come knocking with huge financial sums it will be hard for the club to say no I’d imagine”.
The 22-year-old earned a place in the Championship’s PFA Team of the Year after netting 21 goals in 42 appearances this season. The former England Under 21 international has only one year left to run on his current contract at Turf Moor.
